Dr. Woog and host Luis Bautista discuss the growing problem of Internet and Video Gaming Addiction. At the time of production in 2009, the concept of internet and videogame addiction was controversial. Although produced in 2009, virtually all of the information presented in these videos remain relevant today.

After Dr. Woog was contracted to train counselors within the California State Univesity system on campuses located wthin Los Angeles County, LACOE contracted with Dr. Woog to produce a training DVD called Internet Addiction Disorder: Computer/Video Gaming Addiction. These videos made up this DVD. Dr. Woog has been granted rights by LACOE to distribute this content


Videogame, Social Media and Pornography Addiction: Assessment, Treatment and Prevention

This slide presentation was presented at the Meeting of the Minds Conference (Mental Health Association of Orange County, California) in 2024. It includes problematic videogame and social networking research, review of the science of addiction and proposed simplified model of behavioral addiction and dependency and treatment targets. Dr. Woog presents a Gaming Disorder treatment protocol which is also applicable to other media addictions such as social networking/media addiction. Dr. Woog presents various case studies of actual clients.

This slide presentataion was presented at the Southwestern School for Behavioral Health Studies Conference in 2019. It presents the research related to Gaming Disorder, review of the science of addiction and models of behavioral addiction and dependency. Dr. Woog presents his Gaming Disorder treatment protocol. Debra Woog, MA LMFT presented the state of recommendations for prevention from American Academy of Pediatrics, the World Health Organization and Dr. Woog.


Research: A Survey of Mental Health Professionals Clinical
Exposure to Problematic Computer Use

Conducted in 2003/2004, this research was the first large scale nationwide US study on mental health professional’s exposure to problematic computer use. Conducted as a postcard mail-in survey to reduce selection bias, this report presents what issues mental health professionals saw and what treatment methods they identified as effectve. Although this study predates the rise of the smart phone and massive explosion of social media, research suggested at the time chat rooms were becoming a specific source or problematic computer use.
